Last updated October 25, 2026

This document is part of the Terms of Use.

8.1 Informational purposes only; no professional advice

Content on the Site, in our newsletters, at our events, and in member resources is provided for general information only. It is not legal, campaign-finance, election-compliance, tax, accounting, financial, or other professional advice, and no attorney-client or other professional relationship is created by your use of the Site or membership. Election laws vary by jurisdiction and change frequently. Consult a qualified professional about your specific situation.

8.2 No warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, SERVICES, AND MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

8.3 Third-party content and members

We are not responsible for the content, products, services, or conduct of members, sponsors, advertisers, speakers, nominees, or other third parties, including those listed in a member directory or recognized in the Awards. Listing or recognition is not a recommendation, certification, or guarantee.

8.4 Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, USEIA AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, arising out of or relating to the Site, membership, the Awards, or these terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE, MEMBERSHIP, OR THE AWARDS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct.

8.5 Time limit for claims

To the extent permitted by law, any claim relating to the Site must be brought within one (1) year after it arises.
