Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated October 25, 2026

This policy is part of the Terms of Use and applies to everyone who uses the Site, including members, nominators, nominees, and voters.

10.1 Prohibited conduct

You may not:

  • violate any law, including election, campaign-finance, voter-contact, privacy, consumer-protection, and intellectual property laws;
  • submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including false nominations, or impersonate any person or organization;
  • post content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, obscene, or that invades another person's privacy;
  • post or promote election disinformation, voter intimidation, or content intended to suppress or deter lawful voting;
  • manipulate Awards voting (bots, fake accounts, duplicate votes, vote buying or trading);
  • share access passwords with unauthorized persons, bypass the password gate, or access areas or data you are not authorized to access;
  • scrape, harvest, or collect member or user information, including email addresses or phone numbers, for unsolicited communications;
  • send spam or unsolicited commercial messages through or using the Site;
  • upload viruses, malware, or harmful code, or interfere with the Site's security or operation (including denial-of-service attacks or probing for vulnerabilities except through any responsible-disclosure process we publish);
  • reverse engineer the Site except as permitted by law; or
  • use USEIA names or logos to imply endorsement.

10.2 User-submitted content

"User Content" means anything you submit, including nominations, bios, photos, logos, comments, and messages.

  • Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent that it is accurate, that you own it or have all necessary rights and permissions (including from any person shown or named in it), and that it does not violate this policy or any law.
  • License to USEIA. You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant USEIA a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable license (sublicensable to our service providers) to host, store, use, reproduce, modify (for formatting, length, and clarity), publish, display, and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the Site, membership, the Awards, and USEIA. The license for nomination materials is perpetual as described in the GOTV Awards Rules; for other content, it continues until you remove the content or ask us to, except for copies in backups, already-distributed materials, or blockchain records.
  • No confidentiality. Do not submit confidential information or trade secrets unless we have agreed in writing to keep it confidential.
  • Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

10.3 Moderation

We are not obligated to monitor User Content but may review, edit, refuse, or remove any User Content at any time, including content we believe violates this policy. We may suspend or terminate access of users who violate it and may report unlawful activity to authorities.

10.4 Reporting

Report content or conduct that violates this policy to Winning@ElectionIndustry.com. Copyright and other IP complaints should follow the Copyright & Intellectual Property Notice (see Copyright & Intellectual Property Notice).
