About us
The U.S. Election Industry Association (ElectionIndustry.com) is a nonpartisan trade association that advocates for the interests of the election industry: the consultants, campaign managers, vendors, and firms who do the work of campaigns and elections. We are organized as a Wyoming nonprofit corporation and based in Nashville, Tennessee.
The role
The Finance Director is responsible for the revenue that keeps the Association running: sponsorships and firm memberships. You'll sell sponsorships for our awards programs and events, look after sponsors so they come back, and recruit consulting firms, vendors, and other companies in the election industry to join as members. We want someone who already has relationships with the firms and vendors in this business and knows how to ask for the check.
What you'll do
- Sell sponsorships for Association awards, events, and programs, from first conversation to signed agreement and payment.
- Recruit firms (consulting shops, vendors, technology and service providers) as Association members.
- Manage sponsor relationships: deliver what was promised, report back to sponsors, and line up renewals for the next cycle.
- Build sponsorship packages and pricing with leadership, and keep them current.
- Build and work a pipeline of prospective sponsors and member firms from your own network, events, and referrals.
- Track pledges, invoices, and collections, and give leadership a clear weekly revenue picture.
- Represent the Association at industry events and conferences.
What you need
- A wide network in politics, campaigns, and the election industry, and the ability to get people on the phone.
- A track record of opening doors: you've set meetings with people who don't usually take them.
- Experience selling through relationships: fundraising, sales, business development, membership, or sponsorship.
- Nonpartisan professionalism. You can work with Republicans, Democrats, independents, and nonpartisan vendors, and keep your own politics out of the job.
- Comfort being measured on results.
- Clear writing, good follow-up, and organized records.
- Able to work on-site in Nashville, TN and travel to industry events as needed.
Nice to have
- Experience as a campaign manager, consultant, or staffer at a political firm or vendor.
- Prior work in a trade association, chamber, or membership organization.
- Experience with event, awards, or conference sponsorship.
- Familiarity with a CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar).
- Relationships in Tennessee and the Southeast, in addition to a national network.
Compensation
Base pay is $5,500 per month ($66,000 per year). On top of base, you'll earn uncapped incentive compensation tied to sponsorship revenue closed and firms that join. Details of the incentive plan will be shared during interviews.
