This Membership Agreement ("Agreement") is between U.S. Election Industry Association, a Wyoming nonprofit corporation (also known as "The United States Election Industry Association") ("USEIA," "we," or "us"), and the individual or organization that purchases a membership ("Member" or "you"). By clicking "Join Now," completing checkout, or paying dues, you agree to this Agreement, the Terms of Use, and the Privacy Policy.
2.1 Membership categories and dues
| Membership type | Who is covered | Annual dues (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | One person | $75 per year |
| Firm – Small | Organization with 1–3 designated people | $250 per year |
| Firm – Mid-size | Organization with 4–10 designated people | $500 per year |
| Firm – Large | Organization with 11 or more designated people | $2,500 per year |
- Dues are stated in U.S. dollars and do not include any taxes that may apply.
- We may change dues for future membership terms. Changes will not affect a term you have already paid for. Because memberships renew automatically, we will notify you of any price change before it takes effect, as described in Section 2.6.
2.2 Membership term ("Join Now" – rolling enrollment)
Membership has no fixed enrollment period. You may join at any time. Your membership term begins on the date your payment is successfully processed and lasts for 12 months (the "Membership Year").
2.3 Firm memberships
- A firm membership is purchased by an organization, which designates a primary administrator and the individuals covered by the membership, up to the number allowed by the tier.
- The organization may substitute designated individuals by notifying us at Winning@ElectionIndustry.com.
- If the number of designated individuals exceeds the tier limit, we may ask the organization to move to the appropriate tier and pay the prorated difference.
- The organization is responsible for ensuring that each designated individual agrees to follow this Agreement, including the Code of Conduct, and that it has authority to share their contact information with us.
2.4 Member benefits
Member benefits may include newsletters and industry updates, events, an optional member directory listing, advocacy, and the Member Data-Removal & Protection Services described in the Terms of Use, Section 1.19. Benefits are described on the Site and may change from time to time. We do not guarantee any particular advocacy outcome, business referral, publicity, or award result. Dues paid in 2026 count toward GOTV Awards votes as described in the GOTV Awards Rules (see GOTV Awards Official Rules). Benefits also include the Member Data-Removal & Protection Services (Terms of Use, Section 1.19, best efforts only, no guarantee of removal) and an optional listing in the online member directory (Terms of Use, Section 1.20).
2.5 Payment
- Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"). By paying, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. USEIA never receives or stores your full card number. See the Privacy Policy.
- You authorize us (through Stripe) to charge the payment method you provide for the dues and any applicable taxes.
- If a payment fails or is reversed, we may suspend benefits until payment is received.
2.6 Automatic renewal
IMPORTANT – AUTOMATIC RENEWAL TERMS. YOUR MEMBERSHIP RENEWS AUTOMATICALLY EVERY YEAR UNTIL YOU CANCEL.
- What renews: Your membership automatically renews at the end of each Membership Year for an additional 12-month Membership Year. It continues to renew each year until you cancel.
- What you will be charged: On each renewal date (the anniversary of your join date), we will charge the payment method on file, through Stripe, the then-current annual dues for your membership type: currently $75 (Individual), $250 (Firm, 1–3 people), $500 (Firm, 4–10 people), or $2,500 (Firm, 11+ people), plus any applicable taxes. If dues for your tier change, we will notify you by email at least 7 days before the change takes effect, and you may cancel before being charged the new price.
- Reminder before renewal: We will email you a renewal reminder at least 15 and no more than 45 days before each renewal date. It will state the renewal date, the amount to be charged, the payment method, and how to cancel.
- How to cancel: You can cancel automatic renewal at any time before your renewal date:
- online, using the “Cancel auto-renewal” link included in every renewal reminder and receipt; or
- by email to Winning@ElectionIndustry.com with the subject “Cancel auto-renewal,” including your name, organization (if any), and the email used at checkout.
To avoid the next charge, cancel before 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the day before your renewal date. We will confirm cancellation by email. Cancelling stops future renewals; your membership stays active until the end of the Membership Year already paid for. Dues already paid are not refunded (see Section 2.7). - Consent at checkout: We will not enroll you in automatic renewal unless you affirmatively agree by checking an unchecked box that appears next to these terms before you pay:
"☐ I agree that my USEIA membership will automatically renew every year and that USEIA will charge my payment method the then-current annual dues for my membership type (currently $75, $250, $500, or $2,500, depending on my membership type) plus applicable taxes on each renewal date until I cancel. I can cancel at any time before my renewal date by emailing Winning@ElectionIndustry.com. Dues are non-refundable."
- Acknowledgment: After you join, we will email you an acknowledgment that repeats these automatic renewal terms, the cancellation policy, and how to cancel, in a form you can keep.
- Changes to these terms: We will notify you clearly before making any material change to the automatic renewal terms, and you may cancel before the change applies to you.
- Failed payments: If a renewal payment fails, we may retry the charge and may suspend benefits until payment is received.
2.7 No refunds; cancellation
All membership dues, including initial dues and automatic renewal charges, are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial Membership Years, unused benefits, or cancellations made after a renewal charge has been processed. You may cancel automatic renewal at any time before your renewal date to avoid future charges, as described in Section 2.6. Your membership will then remain active until the end of the paid Membership Year.
If you believe you were charged in error, contact Winning@ElectionIndustry.com within 60 days of the charge, and we will review the request. If a refund is required by law, or if we decide in our discretion to issue one, it will be returned to the original payment method.
Chargebacks: if you dispute a dues charge with your card issuer instead of contacting us, we may suspend your membership while the dispute is pending. Amounts reversed through a chargeback do not count toward GOTV Awards votes (see the GOTV Awards Rules).
2.8 Dues are not political contributions; tax treatment
Membership dues are payments for membership in a trade association. They are not contributions to any candidate, political party, political committee, or campaign, and they will not be used to make contributions to candidates or political committees. Dues are not deductible as charitable contributions. Dues may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense, subject to limitations (including those for lobbying and political activity). USEIA is a Wyoming nonprofit corporation; its federal tax-exempt status has not been determined. USEIA does not claim 501(c)(6) or any other tax-exempt status at this time. Consult your own tax advisor.
2.9 Member Code of Conduct
As a Member, you agree to:
- Act with integrity. Conduct your business lawfully, honestly, and in a way that supports public trust in elections.
- Follow election laws. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local election, campaign-finance, voter-contact, and privacy laws. Do not use membership, events, or member information to engage in voter suppression, intimidation, disinformation, or any unlawful election activity.
- Not misrepresent membership. You may state that you are a member of USEIA while your membership is active. You may not state or imply that USEIA endorses, certifies, accredits, or recommends you, your products or services, or any candidate, party, or ballot measure, and you may not imply that USEIA is a government body. Use of USEIA logos requires our prior written permission and must follow any brand guidelines we provide.
- Respect other members. Engage professionally. Harassment, discrimination, threats, or abusive conduct at events, in member communications, or online is prohibited.
- Protect member information. Use the member directory and any member contact information only for legitimate, professional networking. Do not scrape, sell, or use member information for bulk unsolicited marketing, spam, or texting campaigns.
- Comply with antitrust laws. Do not use USEIA meetings, events, communications, or forums to discuss or agree with competitors on prices, fees, bids, wages, allocation of customers, clients, or territories, or boycotts of any company.
- Respect confidentiality. Treat information designated as confidential or members-only as confidential.
- Follow our policies, including the Terms of Use and the Acceptable Use & User-Submitted Content Policy.
2.10 Suspension and termination
- By you: You may cancel at any time as described in Section 2.7.
- By us, for cause: We may suspend or terminate a membership, after notice and a reasonable opportunity to respond where practical, if a Member violates this Agreement or the Code of Conduct, fails to pay dues, engages in conduct that is unlawful or that we reasonably believe damages the reputation or mission of USEIA, or is the subject of a credible finding of fraud or election-law violation.
- By us, without cause: We may discontinue a membership program or terminate any membership with 30 days' notice.
- Effect: On termination, membership benefits end, Data-Removal Services stop, directory listings are removed, and the Member must stop representing itself as a member.
2.11 No governance or ownership rights
membership does not give you any ownership, equity, voting, or governance rights in USEIA.
2.12 Communications
By joining, you agree that we may send you transactional and membership-related emails (receipts, renewal notices, account and policy updates). Marketing emails and newsletters are governed by Email & Text Message Terms, and you can unsubscribe from them at any time. We will send text messages only if you separately opt in.
2.13 Limitation of liability; disputes
Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability (Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability) and Sections 1.14–1.16 of the Terms of Use (governing law, binding individual arbitration and class-action waiver, and general terms) apply to this Agreement. In no event will our total liability under this Agreement exceed the dues you paid in the 12 months before the claim arose.
2.14 Changes
We may update this Agreement. Material changes will apply starting with your next Membership Year, and we will notify Members by email.
